Nigeria Edge Out South Africa To Nick Slim First Leg Win

Nigeria Falconets recorded a slim 2-1 victory over visiting South Africa Basetsana in the first leg, final round of the 2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World cup qualifier on Saturday, October 24, in Abuja.
The Falconets got off to a flying start as lone striker Ihezuo was left unmarked in the area to tap home the opener after a beautiful cross from Uchendu in the 30th minute.

Winner of the fixture will qualify for the World Cup as one of Africa’s representatives while the continent’s second representative is expected to emerge from the other encounter involving Ghana and Ethiopia.
The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup was expected to be held in South Africa, but due to the country’s withdrawal, Papua New Guinea was chosen on 19 March 2015 to replace the African country.
