Just In: Aston Villa Sack Tim Sherwood

Aston Villa have announced the sacking of manager Tim Sherwood following a disastrous start to the seaason that has yielded only one win.

Villa were defeated 1 – 2 at home by Swansea City  in Sherwood’s last game in charge on Saturday.
Sherwood managed 28 games in all competitions – the shortest spell of any permanent Villa manager and will be replaced by under-21 manager Kevin MacDonald on an interim basis

The club said in a statement: “The board believes the results on the pitch were simply not good enough and that a change is imperative.”
Sherwood was appointed in February, and led Villa FA Cup final and a 17th-placed finish in his first season in charge. He was managed just one win this season after 10 games.
