The SGF on Saturday, October 24, speaking during the visit said the continuous detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices by the terrorists might result to a longer time in completely eradicating the sect.
“As I said a few times in the past, desperate actions such as the detonation of IEDs will take a longer time to eradicate even as our optimism continues to grow that Boko Haram as a fighting force will be crushed by the year end.
“After that, we hope all displaced communities will be returned to their towns and villages. But even when this is about to happen, there will still remain vital tests and challenges,” he said.
He, however, stressed the administration’s desire to crush the sect by December.
Responding to the president’s assertion, Governors of Borno and Adamawa, Kashim Shettima and Senator Jibrilla Bindow expressed gratitude to Buhari for having them at heart in these tragic moments. They also thanked the president for his commitment towards the eradication of terrorism as well as efforts to secure the nation.

The Federal Government sent a delegation to condole with the people and governments of Borno and Adamawa states following the recent Boko Haram attacks that claimed several lives in the area.The delegation which was led by the SGF comprised others like; the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Mallam Garba Shehu, Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Mala Mai Buni; a member of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Tahir Munguno; a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the SGF, Bukar Maina; a chieftain of the APC, Alhaji Modi Aliyu Mahmood.
